About the Scholarship
The Michael T. Leary Scholarship Fund was established to raise funds to endow a need based scholarship for students wishing to attend Providence College and earn a degree in Computer Science.
In May, 2005 family and friends of 27 year old Michael T. Leary were deeply saddened by his untimely death. Michael was a loyal friend to both his classmates and the community in Central Square – Cambridge, MA. His boundless honesty and devotion to those he cared for has had a profound effect on those he left behind. The joy that Michael brought to us will never fade and echoes of his laughter will forever remain in our hearts.
A scholarship committee was formed in 2006 consisting of Michael’s friends, family, and classmates. The task has been undertaken to endow a scholarship at Providence College in memory of Michael T. Leary. As a student, Michael was a pioneer in Computer Science. A truly gifted tactician, no problem was beyond his ability to solve. Providence College will award the Michael T. Leary Scholarship to a prospective student intending to major in Computer Science.
